On the commune of Seringes-et-Nesles, in the Aisne department, the ruins of the château de Nesles stand on an isolated site away from the village. Built around 1226 on the model of the château de Dourdan, this former stronghold features a quadrangular enclosure flanked by eight towers and dominated by a cylindrical keep some thirty metres high. The site has a turbulent history, including a fifteenth-century siege and the presence of Guillaume de Flavy, a controversial figure linked to the trial of Joan of Arc.
