Château de Nançay stands in Nançay (Cher), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 15th century, 16th century, 17th century, fourth quarter of the 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

> 1388 : mention d'une maison forte sur cette terre appartenant à la famille de La Châtre. 1413 : Jean de La Châtre, bailli de Gien, obtient du duc Jean de Berry l'autorisation de fortifier son château, fortification qui ne fut réalisée qu'à la fin du 15e siècle ou au début du 16e siècle, époque de construction du château actuel. Les communs furent reconstruits à la fin du 16e siècle. Le logis, en ruine à la fin du 18e siècle, fut reconstruit autour d'importants vestiges pour Louis Pépin-Lehalleur, acquéreur en 1848. A l'écart, au nord-est, un ensemble de bâtiments ayant servi de ferme, mais dont la fonction d'origine demeure inconnue, peut être identifié avec le grand corps de logis où sont les escuyers, cité en 1631.
