The ruins of Montrognon castle stand on top of a volcanic hill above Ceyrat, in the Puy-de-Dôme department. Built at the end of the 12th century by the Montrognon de Salvert family, only scattered remains survive today, including a round tower that once formed the keep. Visitors come mainly for the climb and the view from the summit, set among dry grasslands where orchids grow.
