Built of arkose sandstone, it retains three interior levels linked by a spiral staircase carved into the thickness of the wall, and its upper platform gives views across the Chaîne des Puys and the Sancy massif. Originally a watchtower, it also served as a food store before being sold as national property during the Revolution.
