# Château de Montmélian

Mortefontaine, Oise, Hauts-de-France

Château de Montmélian stands in Mortefontaine (Oise), in the Hauts-de-France region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

On a hilltop overlooking the plain north of Paris, at Mortefontaine in the Oise department, stands the square tower of Montmélian, the only remnant of a fortified manor built around 1205 for the Vernon family. Two structures once shared this summit, including a royal castle destroyed during the Wars of the League. The flint walls, pierced by round-arched openings, still rise some ten metres and hint at two former floors of living quarters. The ruin is striking to look at from the road, though no closer access is possible.

**No visits on record.** No opening hours or ticketing found.
