# Château de Mazilles

Luzy, Nièvre, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

Château de Mazilles stands in Luzy (Nièvre), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Some two kilometres from the town centre of Luzy, the Château de Mazilles is a manor house built in the 17th century on the ruins of an earlier fortified house, flanked by a tower that may predate the main building. The estate's history reaches back to the 15th century, when the lordship was first recorded, before being raised to a county in the 18th century under the des Jours family. A persistent legend, reported by Morvan historian Jacques-Gabriel Bulliot, even claims Mazilles as the birthplace of Saint Germain of Paris.
