The estate is best known for Jeanne Chézard de Matel, a mystic born here in 1596 who founded the Order of the Incarnate Word and who, as a child, meditated in front of an ice house still standing in the grounds. Stone portraits on the inner courtyard façade recall the Poulot family, who left their mark on the property in the late 19th century. The estate now hosts weddings, seminars and guest rooms.
