Saint-Grégoire, Tarn, Occitanie

Château de Labastide Vassals stands in Saint-Grégoire (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In Saint-Grégoire, in the Tarn department, the ruins of the Bastide des Vassals sit in a forest clearing around a square thirteenth-century keep. The site preserves traces of an entire medieval settlement, including the remains of a mill, a two-arched bridge, and several dwellings dug into the ground. Founded around 1260 by two knights from Lombers, the place was destroyed and later rebuilt during the Hundred Years' War before being abandoned in favour of more comfortable residences. An association is currently working to preserve the site and carries out archaeological excavations there.
