The château de la Ville Janvier stands at Cournon, in the Morbihan department, on a seigneurial site occupied since the 15th century. The present building, dating from the 17th century, owes much of its current appearance to a major restoration carried out at the end of the 19th century by architects Arthur Regnault and later Auguste Beignet. Notable features include the pavilions flanking the main façade, the timber framing on the upper storeys, and the blue schist masonry set off by granite dressings. Around the château, rebuilt outbuildings, a landscaped park and an old chapel complete the estate.
