In Arcomps, in the Cher department, the château de la Touratte stands on a fortified site whose origins go back to the 11th and 12th centuries, surrounded by a moat and a nine-hectare park. Its architecture combines stone and brick, the result of successive building phases including an 18th-century remodelling of the keep that was cut short by the 1870 war, leaving the structure with its final appearance only by the late 19th century. Three of the original four towers remain, the tallest reaching twenty metres, and gargoyles line the rooflines. Above the entrance, a coat of arms held by two lions recalls the families who lived here, under the motto "Gare aux griffes".
