The château de la Roque stands on a rocky spur 477 metres high, overlooking the Dadou valley in the commune of Terre-de-Bancalié, in the Tarn department. Of origins said to date back to the Carolingian era, what survives today is a massive square tower from the 11th-12th centuries along with sections of later fortified walls. Once held by a junior branch of the lords of Castres, the site now appears as a set of ruins cared for by volunteers.
