The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second half of the 15th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château of La Chapelle-Bertrand stands at the end of an avenue of old trees, at the entrance to the village, in the Deux-Sèvres department. Built in the second half of the 15th century, it still shows two large round towers flanking a polygonal tower topped with a gabled window, along with a doorway crowned by an ogee arch leading to a spiral staircase and large rooms with fireplaces. One wing of the building has collapsed and was never rebuilt, giving the structure an unfinished appearance. Around the main house remain an enclosure, outbuildings and a garden.
