In La Chapelle-Baloue, in the Creuse department, only the remains of two towers survive from the medieval castle, standing apart from the hamlet. The fief, first recorded in the late 15th century, was under the authority of the lords of Dun. A nearby dwelling, rebuilt after a fire in 1997, is thought to have been built with stones from the old castle, and still holds a carved lintel bearing a coat of arms along with a granite corbel once used as a pigeon perch.
