# Château de La Calsade

Badailhac, Cantal, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Château de La Calsade stands in Badailhac (Cantal), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The Château de La Calsade stands at Badailhac, in the Cantal region, on high ground overlooking the Goul river opposite the Château de Messilhac. The manor house was built in 1663 for Marguerite Cat de Rastinhac, widow of François d'Humières, as recorded in an inscription carved on the entrance lintel. Its lauze-roofed dovecote and interior staircase with a blind turn reflect the rural architecture typical of the Cantal in the 17th century. Over time the building lost the section that once stood to the left of the staircase, as well as most of its corbelled dovecote, of which only the supporting brackets remain.
