# Château de Joserand

Jozerand, Puy-de-Dôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Château de Joserand stands in Jozerand (Puy-de-Dôme), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 15th century, 16th century, 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Joserand stands at Jozerand, on the first heights of the Combraille region of Auvergne, overlooking the Coinches valley with views stretching to the Puys chain and the Limagne plain. Its two wings set at a right angle, one dating from the 15th century and the other from the 16th, were substantially reworked in the 19th century in a neo-Renaissance spirit, including an octagonal stair tower built in white limestone that stands out against the ochre facades. The landscaped park, laid out by Paul de Lavenne de Choulot, contains carved elements recovered from the former ducal palace of Riom, a doorway and a balustrade reassembled among the trees.
