The village of Jeandelaincourt, in the Seille valley in Meurthe-et-Moselle, preserves traces of two medieval fortified houses rather than a single château. The first, known as the Old Castle, stands at the top of the village near the church and bears the date 1318 above its entrance, beneath the coat of arms of the former lords of the place. The second, at La Horgne, is a larger structure that later became a farm, where a rectangular main building and a round tower still remain. These remains reflect the defensive role this area once played along a contested border route between several Lorraine territories.
