# Château de Hohnack

Labaroche, Haut-Rhin, Grand Est

Château de Hohnack stands in Labaroche (Haut-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 12th century, 13th century, 15th century, 16th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Perched on the Petit-Hohnack peak at 927 metres, these ruins overlook the Labaroche valley and rank among the highest fortified remains in Alsace. The polygonal enclosure and square keep date from the late 12th century, while bastions and a barbican added from the 15th century onward reflect the site's adaptation to firearms. Several named towers, a well and a filtration cistern still stand among the remains of a stronghold once held by the counts of Eguisheim, then the Ferrette and Ribeaupierre families.
