Grandval castle stands in the commune of Teillet, in the Tarn department, on the edge of the Razisse reservoir which submerged part of its remains in 1954. Built in the 15th century for the viscounts of Paulin and later altered in the 18th century, the building was burned down by German troops in June 1944 after sheltering a group of resistance fighters. What visitors find today are partly flooded ruins, whose outline only becomes clearly visible during dry spells when the lake's water level drops.
