# Château de Dole

Dole, Jura, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

Château de Dole stands in Dole (Jura), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In Dole, in the Jura department, only fragments of the medieval fortress remain, absorbed into 16th-century fortified buildings. The site, once the main residence of the counts of Burgundy overlooking a bend of the Doubs river, was razed on the orders of Louis XI before being partly rebuilt under Charles V. The former officers' pavilion now houses the town's Fine Arts museum, which is the part of the castle actually open to visitors.
