# Château de Conches-en-Ouche

Conches-en-Ouche, Eure, Normandie

Château de Conches-en-Ouche stands in Conches-en-Ouche (Eure), in the Normandie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 11th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Perched on a mound above the Rouloir valley, the ruined keep of Conches-en-Ouche belonged to a stronghold begun in the 11th century by the lords of Tosny. Visitors can see a cylindrical keep wrapped in near-joined semicircular towers, a layout that later inspired Château-Gaillard. The site withstood sieges during the Hundred Years' War before being dismantled in the 16th century, then restored by volunteers in the early 2000s.
