# Château de châteaubrun

Cuzion, Indre, Centre-Val de Loire

Château de châteaubrun stands in Cuzion (Indre), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Perched on a rocky spur above the Creuse river, away from the village of Cuzion, the ruins of the château de Châteaubrun still trace the outline of a medieval stronghold. A circular keep of seven storeys, its entrance set several metres above ground level, rises over the remains of the fortified enclosure and the seigneurial residence flanked by turrets. The ruin inspired novelist George Sand, who set part of her story Le Péché de Monsieur Antoine here. A sculptor and ceramicist now displays monumental works on the site, blending old stone and contemporary art.
