Chambly castle, in the Oise department, owes its present appearance to Prince Joachim Murat, who had the older Petimus castle torn down after buying the estate in 1887 to build the structure seen today, along with large stables reflecting his passion for stag hunting. Only a chapel dating from 1670, a remnant of the original estate, has survived. Restored since 1977 by the family that still owns it, the property is frequently used as a filming location for cinema and television.
