In Jarrie, south of Grenoble, the Bon Repos château stands with its rectangular main building flanked by four corner turrets, built at the end of the 15th century on older medieval enclosure remains. The roof collapsed in 1917 and the building long bore the marks of that neglect before the town took it over. A Gothic castle chapel remains, and the grounds are also recognised as a wildlife refuge.
