The present neo-classical building replaced a medieval stronghold in the 19th century, a site whose history stretches back to the Albigensian Crusade and the founding of the neighbouring bastide town. Visitors find a three-storey brick main building flanked by two lower wings, along with a vaulted basement that once housed kitchens and a wine cellar.
