The château de Belcastel overlooks the meeting point of the Dordogne and Ouysse rivers, in the commune of Lacave in the Lot département, set atop cliffs more than fifty metres high. A fifteenth-century keep survives, absorbed into a residential block reworked at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, while a separate chapel, first recorded in the twelfth century, stands a short distance from the main building. The site featured in a Georges Lautner film shot in the early 1970s. As a private property, it is not open to visitors.
