At Terjat, in the Allier department, the château de Beausson stands on a rise west of the village, on the former site of a watchtower and a medieval stronghold. The main building, four storeys high and dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, still has two corner towers, one of which may go back to the 12th and 13th centuries, a remnant of the original fortified enclosure. A 19th century tower displays the coats of arms of the families who owned the estate over time: the Chevenon de Bigny, the Charnisay and the Alexandre de Beausson. The grounds also include a walled kitchen garden laid out by Choulot and two neighbouring ponds.
