# Château d'Ecquevilly

In Ecquevilly, in the Yvelines department, this château stands on the site of a 16th century residence built for François d'O, a favourite of King Henri III, to designs by the architect Baptiste Androuet du Cerceau. Destroyed during the Revolution and rebuilt in 1864 by Henri Purget on the same foundations, the current building now houses the town hall. Surviving elements from the original château include a gateway, remains of the moat, a dovecote and several statues, among them a notable Diana. The site is also known for having stood in for Marlinspike Hall, Captain Haddock's château, in the 1965 Tintin film Tintin and the Blue Oranges.
