# Château d'Aussac

Aussac, Tarn, Occitanie

Château d'Aussac stands in Aussac (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Aussac castle is a 13th century fortified stronghold standing at the heart of the village of the same name, next to the Saint-Pierre church, in the Tarn department. Two of its round towers still stand, remnants of a defensive structure whose other parts were lowered over the centuries. Its history reflects a divided lordship, born from the redistribution of lands following the Albigensian Crusade, shared between the chapter of Albi and the viscounts of Lautrec.
